Film terms#
- Cast film: Made by pouring liquid vinyl onto a sheet. It is thin, has little built-in tension, and usually conforms well to curves.

- Printable film: White film designed to have designs printed onto it.
- Overlaminate: A clear protective film applied over printed graphics to protect the inks.
- Solid color film: Film where the color is part of the material, not printed.
Adhesive terms#
- Air-release adhesive: Adhesive with tiny channels that help trapped air escape during installation.
- Repositionable: Adhesive that allows a panel to be lifted and adjusted before it is firmly applied.

Installation terms#
- Post-heating: Heating stretched film to a specified temperature so it is less likely to shrink back.
- Relief cut: A small, careful cut that lets film lie flat on a complex shape.
- Bleed: Extra artwork beyond the edges of a panel, allowing room for trimming.
- Seam: Where two panels meet or overlap.
